Oh! Turkey, you were as enigmatic as I had imagined. You are undoubtedly the meeting point of the world offering a blend of diverse experiences. Istanbul- a city straddling two continents, I instantly fell in love with your charming European side and vibrant Asian side while marveling at your iconic monuments and strolling through your bustling streets! I was amazed by your surreal landscapes in Cappadocia that transported me to another planet. I was charmed by your picturesque and colorful towns of Alaçati and Çeşme. The cotton castles and natural pools of Pamukkale were breathtaking. I let myself loose in the chaos of Izmir and its beautiful beaches at sunset!
You tingled my tastebuds with your scrumptious cuisine filled with freshly baked bread, lavish spreads of mezzes, mouthwatering baklavas, cheese, and wine! My day wouldn’t start without a refreshing Turkish tea or coffee. You are a shopper’s paradise for someone with an eye for art, pottery, aesthetics, and jewellery. You were so much more than I had imagined!
Turkey was another such trip that was planned impromptu over a casual call with my dear friend. And I am so glad we chose Turkey!
We spent 11 incredible days traveling through various parts of Turkey and exploring the bustling cities, narrow alleys, charming towns, cozy cafes, local cuisine, grand monuments, beautiful valleys, underground cities, beaches, lost ancient kingdoms, hamams and bazars. We also had fun interacting with the locals who were quite amusing and great talkers and also bollywood buffs!
This trip was even more special and exciting as it was my first time traveling to the Far West and my first time getting a tiny glimpse of the continent on top of my travel list- Europe.
Whether you are seeking a journey through history and culture, a relaxed holiday by the beach, or an adventurous vacation exploring the natural wonders, or just like me, if you are a sucker for captivating views and grand architecture, Turkey has it all!
I can’t wait to share with you all the amazing things we did on our trip. And also few of the bittersweet experiences we had! So, stay tuned for my next blog to know what we did in Turkey!
